My Work
Here are some projects I have worked on. See ‘About Me’ for more.
Earthquake!
Changes to earthquake-prone building legislation meant new guidance was needed for building occupants, owners, engineers and the general public. I worked with the team at the Ministry of
Business, Innovation and Employment involved with managing and interpreting these changes, helping with everything from website text and structure to online learning and technical guidance. I also helped edit and proofread the detailed guidelines (1,000+ pages) for engineers conducting detailed seismic assessments on existing buildings.
Taking the media pulse
McNamara Research pioneered media analysis services in this country and still leads the field, developing innovative ways to monitor social media trends and present information in easily accessible ways, including via customised interactive dashboards. I work with McNamara staff as needed to analyse data and write actionable reports for a number of the company’s clients, which include leading corporate and Government agencies.
Climate change education
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation (now part of Primary ITO) had to incorporate new teaching on climate change into its qualifications. I worked with staff and a web designer to develop a climate change resource kit for tutors, which included interactive learning modules and an online database.
Health in the city
Recruiting medical and allied health staff can be a challenge for large Wellington employer, Capital & Coast District Health Board. I worked with its agency Marketing Impact to develop and write an interactive online magazine designed to lure overseas workers and expatriates to the capital city.
